Tripps Travel Network loves to review the best locations that their members can enjoy and have the best of times, especially when they are a little different from the norm. Cave Creek, Arizona is only a short drive from downtown Phoenix, approximately a 30 to 40-minute drive straight north of Phoenix depending on traffic. Cave Creek has long been a favorite day trip for local Phoenicians as it is relatively close to the urban center, but a world away in feeling and environment.

Cave Creek tries and succeeds in maintaining an Old West kind of feel. Its downtown strip is Cave Creek Road, and both sides of the street welcome visitors with numerous western looking buildings, shops, and restaurants. Cave Creek has long been the hub of both motorcyclists and bicyclists because it is a town that you want to move through slowly.

The other value to visiting Cave Creek is the wide variety of options of where to eat. Open since 1935, Harold’s Cave Creek Corral is one of the most well-known eateries and is a local favorite. Their menu is extensive, and they offer more than enough food that most patrons leave with a to-go box. They also host live entertainment, mostly on the weekends, that includes music genres that can vary from country, to rock to jazz and blues. If you are a fan of the NFL and planning to visit Harold’s, just be prepared to know you are entering Steeler’s Country. The colossal banner outside will warn you that you are entering “Steeler’s Country,” but this is only a potential issue while the Steeler’s are actually playing. The rest of the year and every other day of the week the wait staff and bartenders treat all their customers with the same respect and exceptional service that has kept this establishment thriving for more than eighty years.
